Whitetail Deer
Stags usually weigh 60 to 130 kg (130 to 290 lb)
Does usually weigh 40 to 90 kg (88 to 198 lb)
Average life expectancy of 14 years in captivity, 3 years in the wild.
Diet of legumes, shoots, leaves, cacti, acorns, fruit, corn, and grasses. They also mushrooms and poison ivy.
Blacktail Deer
Very similar to Whitetails, but have a black tail and a somewhat darker pelt.
Diet of grasses, blackberries, apples, fireweed, pearly everlasting, forbs, salmonberry, salal, and maple. During the winter and early spring, they feed on Douglas-fir, western red cedar, red huckleberry, salal, deer fern, and lichens growing on trees.
Red Deer
Stags weigh 160 to 240 kg (350 to 530 lb) and have thicker fur around their necks during autumn.
Does weigh 120 to 170 kg (260 to 370 lb)
Life expectancy 20 years in captivity, 10 to 13 years in the wild.
Diet of heather, grass, shoots of bushes and trees, and occasionally berries.
Fallow Deer
Stags weigh 60–100 kg (130–220 lb)
Does weigh 30–50 kg (66–110 lb)
Life expectancy 12-16 years in the wild.
Diet of grass, herbs, foliage, nuts, berries, bark, and fungi.
Sika Deer
Stags weigh 68–109 kg (150–240 lb)
Does weigh 45–50 kg (99–110 lb)
Life expectancy of 15-16 years
Diet of marsh grasses, fallen leaves, trees, brushy vegetation, herbs, fungi, bamboo, ground ferns, poison ivy, soy beans, and corn.
Roe Deer
Both genders weigh about 15–35 kg (33–77 lb)
Only Deer breed to have one mate at a time
Life expectancy of 10 years
Diet of grass, leaves, berries, and young shoots.
