Sparring is a big part of a Deer's life, so it is important to know what to do. There are three types of Spar - Spar for Rank
- Spar for Does
- Spar for Fun
A Spar for Rank is when a Rogue Stag Challenges a Lead Stag with the goal of taking over his entire herd. A Lead Stag of course will not give up his rank and usually will not stop until the Rogue has submitted or the Lead Stag can no longer fight. When the fight is over, the victor either gains or keeps the position of Lead Stag and the loser is chased away to be a Rogue. A Spar for Does is when a Rogue Stag wants to be able to spend time with a Specified Doe or Does. The Doe(s) that is specified will oversee the Spar and make a decision of whether or not the Rogue is worth her time. Fawning Does will not be picked if any of their children are under a year old. A Spar for Fun is mostly just play or practice among the Deer. Fawns and Yearlings will often watch the Permitted Stags or try it for themselves. Does may also Spar with their hooves if they like. Powerplay, Autohitting, Godmodding, and Ganging up on anyone is not allowed. All Spars are to be done one-on-one.
